DVD Having just seen the DVD I would like to congratulate Darren Campbell on doing a superb job. "It would bring a tear to a glass eye!" Posted by John Macleod on 31 May 2009 I'll second that! It was great seeing and catching up with everyone Iain Morrison Tolsta/Inverness Posted by Iain Morrison on 17 May 2009 Great Reunion nights! Great Reunion nights, fun to see the photos now appearing on the website! Thank you to Tweedy and Tommy for organising the Lionel do, a good icebreaker! Just a pity the 3 "boys" from our Airidhantuim class could n't make it (maybe next year)but good to catch up with the "girls" and the Lionel crew. Thank you to Eddie and the committee for getting so many of us together in the Legion. Friday night was not to be missed, great meal, good craic and even some of us managed a wee dance! Posted by Agnes Macleay on 13 May 2009 Loving the photos Although I was unable to be there, it has been fantastic going through the photos from the reunion and trying to figure out who was who. It's amazing how some people have hardly changed, and how long hair has been replaced with no hair. Would love to see more photos. So come on all you budding Angus Smiths, get your portfolios on the website. Cheers, Willie. P.S. Murdo, don't forget that photo of the boat. Le durachd, Catriona x Posted by Catriona Macleod ( Murray) on 08 May 2009 wish I'd been there So sorry to have missed the party - I'd been hoping to make it but it was not to be. That the old sense of community and spirit has endured over all the years is nothing short of remarkable! Congratulations to the team on such an amazing achievement. Slainte! David Kirkness, Johanesburg. Posted by David Kirkness on 08 May 2009 Reunion I can't remember the last time I had a better weekend. It was absolutely fantastic to see so many old faces and meet some that I had forgotten about. The sponsored walk was hugely enjoyable as was the after event party at Murdo Frasers house (thanks for the invite Murdo). I would like to pass on my thanks to the committee who did such a thoroughly professional job of organising all the activities. Wish I could do it all over again this weekend, but I fear my old body couldn't take the punishment. Best wishes to everyone Peter Campbell Posted by Peter Campbell on 08 May 2009 We had a ball! We'd like to add our grateful thanks to the hardworking commitee who made the weekend possible. A truly memorable night renewing old friendships, talking, laughing & even dancing for those who could manage it! We had a ball. Take care & all the best Niseachs, Margaret, Annie M & Chris Ann Posted by Margaret Macleod on 07 May 2009 Unable to attend Due to a family bereavement It was with much regret that I was unable to attend the reunion. That is the way things turn out sometime and sadly, it was not meant to be for me. However, it is good to see some pictures of the evening and some familiar faces of the past. Thanks to those of you that I had the pleasure of meeting some days after the reunion and gave me an insight of a unique event, also very well done to all who were involved in making it all possible. Hope to make the next one...!! Tk Care JJ MacDonald (J Cash) Posted by John James MacDonald on 07 May 2009 A memorable weekend I would like to add my thanks and echo the comments below. The committee did an amazing job of gathering so many of us and pulling of such a special event. It was wonderful to see my Laxdale friends again and to catch up with Nicolson friends also. I am already looking forward to the next get together. Kindest regards to everyone. Anne Macdonald Posted by Anne Macdonald on 07 May 2009 Oh what a night? I've been reading a lot of the comments and there is not a lot to add. It was well worth the drive from Wales.I should have got a few more contact details but I was having such an enjoyable evening the opportunity was missed. I was sorry to have missed the second night but I look forward to the next event. Posted by Roy MacKinnon on 07 May 2009 Fantastic Event What a brilliant event that turned out to be. Like Bom so aptly put it, I spent too long talking and apologise to those I didnt catch up with. Congratulations and many thanks to the team who made it all possible. You deserve a medal you lot. All the best. Joan Alice Posted by Joan A Maciver on 06 May 2009 Reiterating everyone's sentiments...... a weekend to remember. A hundred thousand thanks to a great organising committee who brought everything and everyone together. It was wonderful to be able to meet up once again with friends that in some instances I hadn't seen in 30+ years. What a privilege! Take care of yourselves. Until the next time :) Posted by Dorothy Kennedy on 07 May 2009 What a night An apprehensive drive and flight north from York was followed by one of the most enjoyable evenings we have ever had. The company and the conversation was just so effortless and we were reminded that our Lewis roots run so very deep. Thanks to all the organisers but most of all thanks to you all, our oldest friends Posted by Neil & Peigi Macdonald on 06 May 2009 reunion I must give Eddie and all the committee a big thank you for organising such a fantastic weekend. It broke my heart to leave the island on Sunday. I have never experienced such a sense of belonging and the genuine loving friendship of all my old school friends. The years just melted away! I have never laughed so much in my life and I find myself walking around all day with a stupid grin on my face. I just can't find the words to express how thankful I am to have been there. Many, many thanks to all the organisers. Also wanted to say that the food was amazing! Just wish I could have eaten more! Posted by Dina Campbell on 06 May 2009 reunion What a great weekend meeting all school freinds. I dont know when i laughed so much. Thanks to the committe for orginising a fabulous weekend their attention to detail was second to none. To all my Laxdale friends i hope we keep in touch with each other. Here is to our next meeting. Posted by heather macleod(maclean) on 06 May 2009 Hi Heather Was good to see you on Friday and heard the Saturday was just as good! It was brill to catch up with the Laxdale Class and I remember what we had in Laxdale Canteen with meringues - prunes! no wonder I did'nt eat a school dinner for 7 years! Hope we can all catch up again soon and persuade some more of Laxdale Class to come along. Regards Mairi Posted by on 10 May 2009 Still Talking!! We have an advantage, (perhaps!) in both having been at the best reunion Lewis has ever seen! We can't stop talking about it(boring the kids!) and feeling that it was over too soon. Well done to the committee, what a weekend, it was brilliant to see so many people, many not seen since we left school. Hilarious to see all the spectacles coming out to peer at the name-badges, and then disappearing for photos! What a shame for those who missed it, hope they come for the next one. We may need a bigger venue for all the Zimmers and a loop system for the hearing-aids. Let's keep in touch.God bless you all. Posted by Murdo &Cathy Mary Macmillan on 05 May 2009 Looking back! I would like to say what everyone else has said.... so I wont!Does anybody get the feeling that the weekend was far too short(and I never even made it too the 'Niseach'event!)Absolutely brilliant and can I apologise to all those people that I didnt get round to talking to -it seems I spent too much time'TALKING'! Would the organisers be interested in doing my birthday party??????? Posted by bom on 05 May 2009 Thanks Soo much Thanks to the Committe for all their hard work and the best night I have had for ages. Thanks to my wonderful Laxdale friends - and especially Donnie Smith - none of you have changed - please stay the same! To my Nicolson friends - you were all just the same as when in school - you all looked fab! Kind regards and hope we can do it all again soon. Posted by Googa( Margt Ann) & Anna on 05 May 2009 Such a short Weekend A+ to the Committee for a most memorable weekend. What a fantastic time. I feel so privileged to be part of a fantastic crowd and shall treasure the memories of this weekend for the rest of my days. I look forward to the next reunion and seeing you all again. Posted by Callum Macaulay on 04 May 2009 what a weekend! I came North on Friday with a certain amount of trepidation-- 30 years since I left Lewis, a lot has happened in our lives. Would I remember people? Would they remember me? Would we have anything to talk about? Which all goes to show I still have capacity for being daft. I talked myself hoarse, danced like an eedjit, shed tears, laughed till my sides were sore and had the most fantastic time.I add my thanks to everyones, and I won't leave it another 30 years. ( I'm sure I won't be able to dance quite so well at 80) Posted by shona campbell on 04 May 2009 I don't know about "Heb50" - on Sunday I felt about 102. No idea why. What a good time. Thanks - again - to The Committee for all the toil and the great ideas for daft things. PS Somebody ought to talk to FlyBe about their planes. They smell of stale alcohol... Posted by Sandie Maciver on 04 May 2009 Blown Away!! Regards John Posted by john macleod on 04 May 2009 Grateful Thanks Thank you, doesn't seem to be enough to say for all the hard work the committee did in producing a truly memorable event. I feel so lucky to have been able to attend and shall treasure the memories always. So nice to catch up with many old friends and sad not to share it with those we have lost. I hope to hang on in there for the next one and do it all over again guys. Posted by Christine Smith on 03 May 2009 Beautiful night What a great evening on Friday in the Legion. Tremendous organisation from Eddie, Sage, Todac and co, and just the most wonderful spirit. Thank you all, a very special night. Posted by Neil Finlayson on 03 May 2009 THANKS Well done! . As Friday gives way to Saturday I decide to take my thoughts on a post-event stroll through the Stornoway small hours. Leaving the Legion I realise how much I treasure the great and wonderful people that populate my schoolday memories and I give thanks. Leaving Stornoway, on the afternoon ferry, I realise (on spotting fellow Niseach Annie M) that she slept in and missed the morning sailing! Cha tig an aois leatha fhein! Posted by eddie on 08 March 2009 Hi Cloudy, good to hear from you again, after all these years - I worked with your brother for 14 of them. Hope you can make it ok, when you get sorted. Cheers. Posted by John on 08 March 2009 Hi to all those involved in organising Heb50, especially Eddie, for keeping me up to date with events. I have been hanging on to the hope of being able to attend the reunion in May, but as the time draws closer it is looking unlikely that I will be able to get there. As I have been in New Zealand for almost 20 years, it would have been bloody fantastic to have had the chance to catch up with some folk I haven't seen since my teens. Although I have had several trips back to Sy, including 07 and 08, I have only been able to catch up with a small number of old school mates. However if you can send me some bank details (for internet banking) I will send the money for my registration, and if I don't get there you can put it towards the sponsored walk funds. I expect everyone will have a great time and look forward to hearing all about it and hopefully seeing some photos. I will be thinking of you all and tell Todach I will be having a quiet drink for Donald, and all those who are no longer with us. Cheers, Willie Maclennan-Stornoway Primary. Posted by Willie Maclennan on 06 March 2009 Good to here from you cove, hopefully you will be able to make it but if not i will make sure we take some photos on the walk at the creed[where you spent a lot of time in your younger days]and send them on to you. Posted by eddie on 07 March 2009 Thanks Eddie. Very much appreciated. Pity it will be too early in the season to have a bradan in the photo. Posted by Willie Maclennan on 08 March 2009 Good to hear from you Willie. It would be great to see you again, after 20 years. Bet you've not aged a bit! Posted by John on 08 March 2009 I am writing in relation to the cost of the event. Is the cost for the two nights or just for the one night? I want to be there and hope it is not too late to book a place. Posted by Margaret Sutherland on 06 March 2009 Hello Margaret, the cost is for the 2 nights and we're still accepting bookings. Hopefully we'll see you in May Posted by eddie on 07 March 2009 50th Reunion Hi Eddie & Committee members, Thanks for the invite & all the hard work you've put into getting this reunion of the ground. I think that the photo in the gallery is actually the Nic footie team and not the rugby one. There must be rugby photos out there somewhere. Posted by Iain Morrison on 26 February 2009 I think you might be right there Iain, the round spherical shape of the ball would suggest football ok, duh! just a brief note about the money raised from the sponsored walk.
Currently the total is £3,100, a fantastic effort from all concerned.
The committee have tried on a couple of occasions to gather everyone for the presentation of their respective cheques, unfortunatly, due to other commitments, some have not been able to attend.
Once we have passed the money on to both worthy causes we will update this message and post a photo on this website.
